The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) intends to move the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from the regular February window to May next year, keeping in mind the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be staged in the country in 2025.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) met with all six PSL clubs on Saturday to analyze the ninth edition and discuss the next one, during which the tentative window was also addressed. Reportedly reached during a meeting between the PCB and the six PSL clubs, the decision is said to be an effort to better organize and prepare for local and international cricket matches, according to PTI.
Unfortunately for the PCB and franchise owners, the rescheduled PSL timeframe is going to conflict with the Indian Premier League (IPL). But there are limitations since the cricketing calendar is so full, and the stakeholders supposedly have all agreed that the PSL schedule will have to be adjusted. In the months leading up to the Champions Trophy, the Pakistani national team will be busy with competition.
PCB Chief Operating Officer, Salman Naseer, shared insights from the meeting: “We had a productive brainstorming session where franchise owners shared valuable insights on the proposed window and playoff venues for PSL 2025. Following this, we will provide more data to the franchisees, enabling them to make informed decisions which will be discussed further at the Governing Council meeting.
“We are committed to working closely with the franchisees to make timely decisions that will shape the future of the PSL, one of Pakistan’s premier sporting events.”
