Praveen Jayawickrama banned from all forms of Cricket for a year due to breaching Anti-Corruption Code
He is also been suspended for six months. The spinner was charged under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code in August this year.

Sri Lankan spinner Praveen Jayawickrama has been banned for a year by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He is also been suspended for six months. The spinner was charged under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code in August this year.

The spinner deleted the messages from an anonymous person who made an approach to him to engage in corrupt practices. And as a result, he breached article 2.4.7 of the code, which states:
“Obstructing or delaying any investigation that may be carried out by the ACU, including concealing, tampering with, or destroying any documentation or other information that may be relevant to that investigation and/or that may be evidence or may lead to the discovery of evidence of corrupt conduct under the Anti-Corruption Code.”
Jayawickrama stunned the entire Cricket world by picking up 11 wickets on his debut Test match against Bangladesh in Pallekele back in 2021. He produced a record-breaking figure for a debutant in Test cricket but was not able to maintain his form and featured in just five Tests.
Praveen Jayawickrama has represented in a total of 15 games and picked up 32 wickets across all formats for Sri Lanka. He last played for the country in a T20I fixture against Australia back in June 2022.
And now he's banned from all forms of Cricket for a year and is suspended for six months. Jayawickrama's last competitive appearance came for Moors in the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament in August this year.
