England crashed West Indies by 75 runs on Wednesday (20th December). England posted a thumping 267 runs in the first innings, which is the second highest in the history of T20I Cricket. And then West Indies could make only 192. Philip Salt's magnificent 119 off 57 deliveries helped England level the series by 2-2.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first. Coming out to bat, England were right on top. With Jos Buttler and Philip Salt smashing West Indies for fun. The opening duo was right on top with a partnership of 117 runs off just 9.5 overs before Buttler got out on 55 from 29 deliveries.
Will Jacks came and played a cameo of 25 off only 9 deliveries and the run rate became more higher. Philip Salt and Liam Livingstone made a fine partnership. With Livingstone hitting things for fun. Liam Livingstone raced to 54 off only 21 deliveries with a jaw dropping strike rate of 257.14.
Philip Salt notched up a hundred and it was his back to back hundreds in T20I cricket. And England finished on 267 after alloted 20 overs.
Coming out to chase, West Indies were hitting things and came with an intent to chase things down. All of the West Indies batters got starts and played cameos but none turned up for big scores which hurt West Indies badly. Nicholas Pooran made 39 off 15 balls, Shai Hope made 16 off 8. Sherfane Rutherford played a quick-fire knock of 36 from 15 deliveries. At the backend of the innings, Andre Russell scored 51 off 25 balls and West Indies were all out on 192 after only 15.3 overs. They had few overs left in their bag but didn’t have wickets to capitalise their chances. Hence, they lost the match by 75 runs and England levelled the series by 2-2.
