After their early elimination from the T20 World Cup, Pakistani cricket players could have their central contracts reviewed and their remuneration lowered by the PCB.

They were favored, along with India, to go to the next round in Group A; however, their defeat to the USA prevented them from making it to the Super 8.
According to a trustworthy source within the board, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB, received advice from officials and former players to review the central contracts that were granted to the players under Zaka Ashraf's tenure.
A set portion of the PCB's earnings from the ICC and a large increase in player earnings were both declared by Zaka Ashraf last year.
"There could be a reassessment of the central contracts and the players could find their salaries and fees being cut if the Chairman decides to react strongly to the team's recent woeful performances," the source told PTI.
"Nothing is final as yet but yes, this strong measure has been discussed within the board with the Chairman," the source added.
