Naseem Shah is not allowed to play in The Hundred League, which begins in the third week of July, because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declined to provide him a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Naseem had agreed to a £125,000 contract with Birmingham Phoenix and was supposed to compete in the competition, which would begin on July 24.
Based on reliable sources, the PCB declined to award Naseem with a nod of approval because of his persistent fitness concerns. The move is intended to minimize the fast bowler's risk of injury and efficiently manage his workload. With Pakistan's demanding and nonstop cricket schedule for the upcoming season, the PCB doesn't want to take any chances with Naseem's fitness.
In October 2023, Naseem had a successful surgery to address his shoulder problem. He was then declared ineligible for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Following that, medical professionals recommended that the young player take a four- to six-week break and receive therapy before returning to the field. He was out for a minimum of three to four months due to this injury.
Pakistan’s next assignment is against Bangladesh. The two-match Test series between the two countries will start on August 21 in Pakistan.
