Pat Cummins in doubt for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Pat Cummins will miss the upcoming two-match Test tour in Sri Lanka as he's on paternity leave. Steve Smith has been named as the captain for this tour. However, on Thursday, Cricket Australia has confirmed that Cummins is also managing ankle injury.

Pat CumminsPat Cummins will miss the upcoming two-match Test tour in Sri Lanka as he's on paternity leave. Steve Smith has been named as the captain for this tour. However, on Thursday, Cricket Australia has confirmed that Cummins is also managing ankle injury.
"We'll have to wait and see when that scan comes back and see how it's tracking," chief selector George Bailey said.
"There's a little bit of work to do.
"We'll probably get a bit more information around where that's at."
Pat Cummins absence will be a massive blow for the Australian team as Cummins had an eye on the Champions Trophy after lifting the Cricket World Cup 2023.
Mitchell Marsh is currently the vice-captain of Australian ODI side and captain of T20I team. Though he is having a lean patch both with bat and ball in the Test Cricket and he wasn’t picked for the Sri Lanka tour. But it is expected that he'll be added in the Champions Trophy squad.
Australia's Champions Trophy campaign is set to be commenced from February 22 against their arch-rivals England in Lahore. Australia have been slotted into Group B which features Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan.
