With the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 just around the corner, Pakistan’s selection committee has reportedly finalised the squad for the much-awaited tournament, but the official announcement is being postponed as young batsman Saim Ayub is still undergoing medical examination and his fitness status is still being reviewed.
The proposed squad for Pakistan’s ICC Champions Trophy has been largely finalised, with key players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Kamran Ghulam, Tayyab Tahir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed, Sufyan Maqeem and Irfan Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Haseebullah and Imam-ul-Haq reportedly among them.
The selection committee has already completed its deliberations, but the final approval will come only after consultations with medical professionals and a review of Saim Ayub's full medical reports.
Once the medical examinations are completed, the final squad will be submitted to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi for approval. Pakistan is the only team that has not yet announced its squad, while the other seven participating nations have already announced their lineups. As per ICC regulations, all teams have to finalise their squads by February 11, 2025.
The Champions Trophy, which will be played in Pakistan with some matches in the United Arab Emirates, will see the world's top eight cricket nations battle it out for glory. With Pakistan hosting the event, expectations are high for the team to put in a strong performance on home soil.
