Over the past 12 months there have been huge improvement: Nic Pothas
Before their successful Pakistan series, Bangladesh had reached the Super Eight stage in the 2024 T20 World Cup, a milestone for the team. Earlier in 2023, they secured wins in both the ODI and T20I formats on their tour of New Zealand, something they had never done before. Pothas believes that these accomplishments reflect the team’s growth and should not be overshadowed by recent setbacks.

Bangladesh's tour of India has been far from ideal, especially after the high expectations following their historic 2-0 Test series win against Pakistan. The team's underwhelming performances have left fans disappointed, as Bangladesh has already lost the T20 series with two consecutive defeats. Despite this, assistant coach Nic Pothas is choosing to highlight the team's overall progress over the past 12 months, citing key achievements leading up to this tour.

Ahead of the third T20I against India, Nic Pothas addressed the media and emphasized the importance of acknowledging the team's progress, saying, " When it comes to performance, I think we have very short memories. We've just come from Pakistan where we have won a series in Pakistan which we have never done before. We've just came from New Zealand where we won games which has never happened before. We're very good at knowing what happened yesterday and what's happening now but we are not very good at acknowledging the path of the last 12 months. Over the past 12 months there have been huge improvement. So there's no magic beans or bullet but what we can see that there is a huge amount of improvement. So let's acknowledge that."
Despite Bangladesh's struggles in the ongoing series against India, Pothas is urging the team to focus on the positives. With the third T20I scheduled for October 12, Bangladesh will aim to avoid a series whitewash and reclaim some pride.
