The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put an end to the uncertainty surrounding Rohit Sharma's Test career. After a tough Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where India National Cricket Team faced a series defeat against Australia National Cricket Team, there were doubts about Sharma's leadership.

However according to a report by PTI Rohit Sharma will continue to lead Team India in their upcoming five-match Test series against England National Cricket Team set to begin on June 20, 2025.
Despite facing back-to-back Test series defeats against the Blackcaps and Australia Rohit retains the trust of the selectors and will captain the Indian team in what promises to be a highly anticipated series. The decision comes after weeks of speculation with Rohit's form being under the scanner during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
"Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the India senior team in England despite his modest outings and two Test series defeats against New Zealand and Australia," PTI reported, as quoted by NDTV.
The BCCI selection committee is expected to reveal India’s squad for the England series around the final week of IPL 2025. Sources close to the situation suggest that the announcement could come during the IPL knockout stages or immediately after.
“There is enough time to announce the squad, mostly ahead of the knockouts or just after those matches. You will then get a clear picture as to which players are available by then,” a source informed PTI.
In preparation for the England series, several Indian players are likely to feature in the 'A' squad for two four-day games against the England Lions. These matches are scheduled for May 30 and June 6, 2025.
