New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled its women's squad for the upcoming white-ball home series against Pakistan. The series of three T20Is followed by three ODIs is seen as a crucial step in preparation for the White Ferns ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh next year.
New Zealand have named a strong squad for next month's white-ball series at home against Pakistan.
The series will consist of three T20Is followed by three ODIs and will provide the White Ferns with valuable experience ahead of next year's ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
Skipper Sophie Devine will once again lead New Zealand during the matches, with experienced batsman Suzie Bates, experienced fast bowler Lea Tahuhu and star all-rounder Amelia Kerr providing plenty of support.
However, Kerr will miss the opening game of the series in Dunedin on December 3 as she takes part in the final of Australia's WBBL competition.
New Zealand coach Ben Sawyer hopes the series will provide his side with a good opportunity to hone their skills before the start of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“We want to build on the good recent form in bilateral series but, more importantly, continue to develop combinations with an eye on next year’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” Sawyer said.
“From an ODI perspective, in addition to developing our game plan, it is extremely important that we try to collect as many World Cup points as possible.”
