Girl under police protection and health check
The 17-year-old girl is now under police protection after filing a complaint and undergoing the mandatory health check. AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk of the Kathmandu Valley Police Bureau confirmed the news while speaking to Setopati, Nepal's digital newspaper.
A rape complaint was filed against Sandeep Lamichhane. This is a complaint from a minor, I will provide more details tomorrow. The victim's health check was also conducted tonight," Dhanuk said. The development was also confirmed by several other police officers from the Kathmandu Police Range, Kathmandu Valley Police and Nepal Police Headquarters.
According to police, on the eve of the Nepal cricket team's departure for Kenya on September 22, Sandeep Lamichhane asked her to accompany him on a trip to Bhaktapur, and she agreed. Since Lamichhane stayed, the child could not return to her hostel in Madhya Baneshwar at night.
When the hostel closed at 8pm, the youngster was forced to spend the night with the 25-year-old superstar at a hotel in Kathmandu's Pingalasthan, according to the complaint.
The minor suggested staying in separate rooms, but Lamichhane disagreed. Instead, he drugged her and raped her twice.
