Just as Bangladesh were beginning to recover from a recent disaster, another calamity has struck. The northeastern region of the country is now reeling under severe flooding, causing extreme hardship for the people living there. The sudden influx of water has submerged many homes in the low-lying areas of Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, and Khagrachari.

The flood-hit areas are facing immense difficulties, with reports of casualties emerging from several locations. Continuous rainfall has only worsened the situation, with numerous homes, livestock farms, and other properties submerged under water. In this challenging time, the hearts of many Bangladesh national cricketers ache for the people affected by the disaster. Several players have taken to their Facebook pages to express solidarity with the flood victims.

Cricketers like Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan Sohan, and Rishad Hossain have posted messages of support on their respective Facebook pages. Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed, and Mushfiqur Rahim have also shared messages of compassion, urging others to help in any way they can.

Mushfiqur Rahim, in a Facebook post, wrote, "Deeply concerned by the suffering of my fellow countrymen due to the recent floods. I am doing my best to help and urge everyone to contribute so that we can support the affected people. It's crucial that we stand by our own people during this time."

Taskin Ahmed, currently in Pakistan, also expressed his concern, stating, "Assalamu alaikum. Even from afar, the cries of the flood-stricken people of Feni pain me. I am trying to do my part to support them. We have a volunteer team in Feni right now, but they need speedboats, trawlers, or engine-powered boats to rescue the hundreds of stranded families. I urge everyone to help manage at least one boat, and our team is ready to cover the full cost."

Taskin added, "Please avoid sharing random numbers circulating on Facebook, as most of them are already booked. If anyone from Dhaka, Chattogram, or nearby areas can arrange a boat, we will take responsibility for transporting it to Feni." He also provided contact details for a person coordinating the efforts.

Similarly, Soumya Sarkar shared his concern on Facebook, saying, "The people of our country are helpless due to the floods. Lives, homes, and dreams are being submerged. Let’s extend our helping hands from wherever we are and stand by them. We can overcome this difficult time if we support each other. May God protect us all." He also posted a poignant image showing two children sitting on a small piece of land surrounded by floodwater.

Despite being in Pakistan—Soumya and Taskin with the ‘A’ team, and Mushfiqur with the national team—their thoughts are with their homeland.

Like the rest of the nation, these cricketers are praying for the situation to improve quickly and for peace to return to the country. The sooner their prayers are answered, the better it will be for Bangladesh and its people.
