Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has got a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction. MS Dhoni's team Chennai Super Kings bought him at the base price of INR 2 crore. This is the first time Mustafizur will play IPL for Chennai. 

Mustafizur played for Delhi Capitals in the last two seasons of IPL. He has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals in this tournament.

Mustafizur made his IPL debut in 2016. In that season, he played 16 matches and took 17 wickets. This cutter master bowled well with the new ball and in death overs. He played a big role in winning the title for Sunrisers Hyderabad that season. He was also the best-emerging cricketer of the tournament.

Mustafizur could not do justice to himself in the last 5 seasons. The left-handed pacer could play only one match in the 2017 season. He played 7 matches in the 2018 season. However, in the 2021 season, he played 14 matches and took 14 wickets.

Mustafizur started his IPL career with Hyderabad and later played for Mumbai Indians. Then he was in Rajasthan Royals. Last season he was with Delhi Capitals. However, Delhi did not retain him for the next season.

Meanwhile, this time, Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das withdrew from the IPL. Mustafizur, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam got places in the main list of the auction. However, Taskin and Shoriful pulled themselves out of the auction as the national team played during the IPL.

The Indian media say that if everything goes well, the IPL will be played from March 22 next year. The tournament will continue till the end of May. However, the BCCI has not yet announced the exact date of the start of the IPL.
