He didn't wait to exclude Ashwin from the team—a decision much required. Shockingly, though, Devon Conway was also excluded. Dhoni must know that he requires resolve up top, and for that he's entrusted Shaik Rasheed.

Whether the youngster is able to be a threat at the top on a regular basis is yet to be determined. The signing of Jamie Overton provides CSK with more depth. MS Dhoni also continues to play brilliantly with the bat. He scored 26 on only 11 deliveries in the previous match, helping CSK beat LSG.

While there were some encouraging developments in the previous game, CSK's batting, including the likes of Rahul Triopathi, Vijay Shankar, and Ravindra Jadeja in the top order, is just not potent enough. Shivam Dube will also have to work out a way to deal with the quick pace, or else he too will keep struggling.

CSK's bowling is better-balanced. Noor Ahmad was outstanding, and Matheesha Pathirana adds another quality to the depth. Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, and Ravindra Jadeja round out a strong bowling unit with some challenging tests to overcome.
