However, a solid 89-run partnership between Nat Sciver-Brunt (30 off 28) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (66 off 44) brought them back into the game.

Mumbai Indians secured their second Women's Premier League (WPL) title with a dramatic 8-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2025 final at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Led by a brilliant innings from Harmanpreet Kaur and an all-round performance by Nat Sciver-Brunt, Mumbai successfully defended their total in a tense finish.
After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians were put in to bat by Delhi Capitals’ skipper Meg Lanning. The defending champions got off to a shaky start, losing two wickets for just 14 runs. However, a solid 89-run partnership between Nat Sciver-Brunt (30 off 28) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (66 off 44) brought them back into the game.
Late contributions from Amanjot Kaur (14*) and lower-order batters helped Mumbai post a competitive 149/7 in 20 overs. For Delhi, Marizanne Kapp was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for just 11 runs.
In response, Delhi Capitals came agonizingly close to victory. Marizanne Kapp played a blistering knock of 40 off 26 balls, while Jemimah Rodrigues added 30 off 21 to keep Delhi in the hunt.
Needing 13 runs in the final over, Delhi lost wickets in quick succession and eventually fell just 8 runs short, finishing at 141/9 in 20 overs. Mumbai’s Nat Sciver-Brunt delivered with the ball as well, taking 3 key wickets, ensuring her team’s back-to-back WPL title win.
