Pakistan, from this date on, will head the Council with the aim of promoting and developing cricket on the Asian continent. With Pakistan on the helm, the ACC stands to strengthen and spread cricket's presence in Asia even further and foster growth and unity in the sport," the press release stated.
Naqvi, Pakistan's Minister of Interior, in a press statement stated: "It is an honor for me to take up the chairmanship of the Asian Cricket Council. Asia is at the center of world cricket, and I will strive to work in collaboration with all member organizations towards the increased growth and international influence of the sport.".
Together, we will unlock new possibilities, reinforce cooperation and propel Asian cricket to untapped heights. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the outgoing ACC President for his stewardship and contributions over the years."
Meanwhile, outgoing ACC President Silva thanked the ACC community for their support amid his tenure and expressed confidence in Mohsin Naqvi’s leadership, stating the body ‘will continue its remarkable journey and thrive’.
"It has been a privilege to serve as President of the Asian Cricket Council. The steadfast commitment of our member boards working together has been pivotal in elevating ACC's stature across the region,” said Silva.
I would like to thank my predecessor, Mr. Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, under whose stewardship the ACC achieved great heights such as winning the highest-ever value for the ACC Asia Cup commercial rights, launching a new pathway events model, and laying the groundwork for the continued growth of cricket in Asia.".
As I step down, I have complete faith that under the able stewardship of Mr. Naqvi, the ACC will further excel and flourish.
