Mohammed Shami reveals reason behind his success after five-wicket haul
Shami once again showed why he is India's go-to bowler in ICC games. He was in great shape during the 2023 ODI World Cup until an injury cut his run short. His deadly mix of pace and swing destroyed Bangladesh's batting order, and he finished with 5/53 in 10 overs, which is an excellent score.

After missing 14 months because of an illness and surgery, India's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami made a great comeback with an amazing five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in the first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Shami expressed satisfaction at executing his plans successfully, "I felt the wicket remained the same throughout both innings. We had three spinners; they had two. It was slightly challenging for spinners, but in the end, the outcome was clear—those who execute their plans well will succeed."
The experienced pacer also said that teamwork was important in such a high-stakes competition, "Support from the coach and captain is crucial for every player. In such tournaments, backing the game plan is essential. My job is to deliver what is expected of me. I am grateful to Allah for having a strong record in ICC events."
