Mohammad Nabi is one of the most prolific player in Afghanistan Cricket history. Nabi served Afghanistan from 2009 and is now set to take retirement from ODI's after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Naseeb Khan, chief executive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed the news to Cricbuzz.

Naseeb Khan revealed that the veteran all-rounder has informed the board officials about his decision. However, Naseeb also mentioned that the former captain is likely to continue playing T20Is for Afghanistan.

"Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire," Naseeb told Cricbuzz. "He told me few months back that he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that, he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now," he added.

Nabi, 39, is still a valuable asset for Afghanistan white-ball lineup. During the first ODI in Sharjah, Bangladesh pacers ran riot with the new ball and left Afghanistan stuttering for 71-5, and then Nabi rescued Afghanistan and smashed a swashbuckling 84 off only 79 deliveries to help the hosts get a respectable total of 235 on the board.
