Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir revealed his top three current favorite batters and bowlers during a question-and-answer session on his YouTube channel on Sunday.
Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir has picked his three current favorite batsmen and bowlers in world cricket. What caught the attention of many was that he named two Indian stars as his best batters while not impressing any Indian bowler.
Mohammad Amir picked Virat Kohli and Babar Azam as the two players he likes the most. He said that apart from the T20s, the big two impressed him in the ODIs and in the game's longest format. Notably, both are currently the leading batters in world cricket, having won matches for their respective teams.
Amir went on to rank his three favorite bowlers and New Zealand pacer Trent Boult secured the No. 1 ranking. 20-year-old Pakistani pacemaker Naseem Shah was second in Amir's rankings while Mitchell Starc was third.
Trent Boult, he's number one for me, then Naseem Shah. These are bowlers who, in my opinion, are complete bowlers and can play all formats. And the third would be Mitchell Starc, he added.
Mohammad Amir then declared former Pakistan head coach and current director of Pakistan men's cricket team Mickey Arthur as his favorite coach.
Amir praised Arthur's coaching style and the positive impact he had on his career working alongside him as the head coach of the Pakistan national team.
Mohammad Amir expressed confidence that Pakistan will do well at the upcoming ODI World Cup, which will be held exclusively in India for the first time. The 31-year-old helped Babar Azam's men reach the semi-finals of this flagship tournament and warned other teams not to underestimate the former champions in Asian conditions.
"Pakistan will be in the top four and you can't write them off in Asian terms," he said.
Mohammad Amir has played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is for Pakistan in his controversial career. The left-hander retired from international cricket in 2020 after claiming team management had "mentally tortured" him.
