For the second consecutive season, Melbourne Stars will have the first pick in the BBL overseas draft, while their local rivals Melbourne Renegades will follow with the second pick.
In the weighted lottery, divided between the four teams that missed the finals and those that qualified, the Sydney Sixers, last season's runners-up, secured the eighth pick, while defending champions Brisbane Heat will pick sixth.
The Melbourne Stars will be aiming for better luck with their first pick this season, potentially securing a platinum player, following last season's disappointment when they selected England's Harry Brook, who later withdrew from the tournament to manage his workload.
The opportunity to trade picks between clubs exists, as demonstrated by the exchange between the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder, who swapped their positions in the second round as part of the transfer involving Wes Agar moving to the Thunders.
Stars will have the first pick in rounds one, two and four with the order reversing in round three meaning Sixers get pick 17.
The draft will again have four price bands: platinum (AU$420,000), gold (AU$300,000), silver (AU$200,000) and bronze (AU$100,000).
Clubs have the opportunity to sign up to four players in total, with one of those slots designated under the new multi-year contract option aimed at securing key players ahead of competing T20 leagues.
