Malik left the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after playing 3 matches for Fortune Barishal, he can return to BPL again if needed by the team. The decision to leave the BPL was discussed with the team, he also clarified. He also said that captain Tamim Iqbal also agreed to his departure.

In a tweet, Malik wrote, “I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai. I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches, and if needed, I am available to support them if needs be.”

Malik’s last match was against Comilla Victorians in the Dhaka phase. However, like the previous match, the star-studded team lost in this match as well. As soon as the match ended, Malik left the team and took a flight to Dubai. At that time it was reported that Malik had left Bangladesh for personal work. He would join the team soon after completing personal work in Dubai. But later it was known that Malik was not returning.
