On Sunday, Kusal Mendis hosted a delightful dinner party to celebrate his 30th birthday, inviting all team members to join the festivities. The celebration was marked with laughter, camaraderie, and delicious food as the players enjoyed a well-deserved break.

In addition to Kusal's birthday, the team had another reason to celebrate. It was Sadeera's wedding anniversary, and the team came together to make the occasion special for him and his spouse. Sadeera’s wife, Thilakshi Gamage, and the families of a few other players have been allowed to join the team to support them. The joyous atmosphere was infectious as everyone shared in the happiness of these milestones.

Pathum Nissanka, the 26-year-old right-hand batter, was part of the 18-men squad but hadn’t joined the team in the first Test due to fitness concerns. On Sunday morning he joined the team and he was on a mission to prove his fitness to the support staff and secure his place in the next match. A few other players had also joined the optional training.

Monday was meant to be the 5th day of the Test match, but the game concluded in just 3 days. As a result, the players were given a rest day to relax and recharge. The early finish allowed them to unwind and enjoy the celebrations without any worries.  It was a gesture of solidarity, a reminder that in cricket, as in life, there were always moments of joy to be found, even in the face of adversity.

The players knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but with resilience and support, they were ready to face it head-on.
