Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson appreciated Virat Kohli’s stern captaincy comparing it with ‘iron-fisted dictatorship’. Watson played a season with Royale Challengers Bangalore in Indian Premier League (IPL) under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. “Virat Kohli’s captaincy is an iron-fisted dictatorship and Australia must brace themselves for the attack of the clones in Ranchi” – said Watson in The Daily Telegraph.
Disagreeing with many others among cricket fraternity, Watson said, “I wouldn’t say he has got a temper, he just rides the highs and lows of the game from an emotional point of view. He wants to win, he hates losing and as a captain that’s how he is built.”
“One of the things I absolutely love about Virat Kohli is he has got such a deep down burning desire to win and obviously he is up to pushing the limits” – he said. The series decider match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is all set to start at Ranchi on Thursday after flurry of words had been said between two countries’ cricket authorities in and outside the field.
Watson told, “I just know more than anything how much it means to these guys (Kohli and Smith). They are both ultra-competitive. Virat is outwardly more emotional about how much he loves winning. Steve has that same burning ambition.. He is just not as visible as Virat. It think its two players who are the best in the world and in time they will be greats in international cricket.”
