West Indian pacer Kemar Roach returns to Surrey for the first four fixtures of the new County Championship season
West Indian star pacer Kemar Roach returns to Surrey for his fifth successive County Championship season. The 36-year-old Barbadian cricketer is eagerly waiting to play for the county team once again and provide consistent and exceptional performances for the defending champions in the new season.
Roach has 93 wickets at 25.60 from 28 first-class games for the defending champion Surrey, featuring in the three title successes of the club consecutively. Roach will be available to play in the opening match of the season against Essex, to be played next Friday, in addition to the match against Hampshire, Sussex, and Somerset.
"I have enjoyed every moment of my time at Surrey over the past four years and am excited to be rejoining the team. The Kia Oval is my second home, and the environment under the leadership of Alec Stewart, Gareth Batty, and Rory Burns is one of the best I have ever experienced. I look forward to contributing to Surrey's continued success with every opportunity I have," Roach said.
Speaking about Roach's county performance, he has represented Surrey in a total of 28 first-class games, and has taken 93 wickets at an average of 25.60. He will be playing for the first four games, beginning with the game against Essex next Friday, April 4. Surrey Cricket Excellence Advisor Alec Stewart also had some words about how useful the ace pacer has been for the team.
