Litton Das from Bangladesh was supposed to play his first PSL game this year with Karachi Kings, but things didn't go as planned. The wicketkeeper and hitter was already ruled out of the PSL 2025 before he even took the pitch. He broke a very small bone in his finger while training.
As quickly as possible, the Karachi Kings have named Australian bowler Ben Mcdermott to replace Litton for the rest of the season.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) gave Litton a full No Objection Certificate (NOC), which meant he could skip the upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe and play in the PSL for the first time. But during a preseason practice session in Pakistan, he hurt his finger. Later scans showed that it had a tiny fracture, which means he needs to rest for at least two weeks.
Litton can't play in any games, so he is going back to Bangladesh to get better.
Since Litton isn't in the event, the Karachi Kings have announced that the hard-hitting Australian wicketkeeper-batter Ben McDermott will play in his place. The news was shared on the franchise's main social media accounts.
The 25 T20Is McDermott played for Australia, where he scored 342 runs at an average of 18.00 and a strike rate just under 100, gave him important international experience. He has also played in a number of T20 leagues, such as South Africa's SA20 and Sri Lanka's LPL, where he showed off his strong style of hitting the ball.
Since Tim Seifert is already on the team, McDermott will likely add much-needed strength and versatility to the middle order and be a solid backup wicketkeeper.
