India beat Pakistan by 6 runs in a nervy encounter on Monday (10th June) at the Nasau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. Pakistani bowlers bowled superbly to reduce India to a meagre 119 on the board. In reply, Pakistani batters stumbled infront of quality Indian attack. Jasprit Bumrah ran riot through the Pakistani batting lineup and handed India a narrow margin victory.
Being sent to bat first under the cloudy condition, India lost their stalwart batter Virat at the start of the innings to Naseem Shah. Rohit fell cheaply afterwards and India lost both of the openers inside the powerplay.
Axar Patel came in and scored 20 before being knocked over to Naseem Shah. India at one point were cruising at 89-4 before Pakistan brought themselves back with a breathtaking spell from their pacers.
Rauf who went for hat-trick of fours roared back in the death overs to pick up 3 wickets. Pant was the lone batter who scored something significant as he scored a fine 42 off 31 balls, which helped India break the barrier of 100 marks run.
Naseem Shah was the pick of the bowlers getting Virat, Axar and Shivam Dube. Rauf also picked up three wickets after being beaten in the first over. Mohammad Amir had two wickets and wrapped up India's innings to a paltry 119 runs.
In reply, Pakistan lost Babar Azam to Jasprit Bumrah earlier but Mohammad Rizwan held on one end and strung for a while with Usman Khan before the latter one was plumb to Axar Patel. They lost Fakhar Zaman as well soon after and Pakistan were stuttering on 73-3, needing 47 more off 42 deliveries.
Rizwan still was there scoring a gutsy 30 off 41 but hang on as Bumrah knocked him over to bring India back into the game, Rizwan played a negative knock of 31 off 44 balls, while Pakistan needed 37 off last 5 overs.
Axar bowled an exceptional over, giving away just 2 runs and Pakistan still were 35 away off 4 overs. Hardik removed Shadab in the next over and Pakistan were stumbling already.
Siraj gave away 9 runs and Pakistan still needed 21 off last two overs. Bumrah bowled a superb penultimate over and got Iftikhar Ahmed, giving away only 3 runs to leave 18 runs off 6 balls to reach.
Arshdeep came to bowl the final over and removed Imad Wasim and eventually won it for India by 6 runs.
