Bangladesh pulled off a dramatic last-ball victory against Zimbabwe on Sunday (October 30) in Brisbane in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. After the match, pacer Taskin Ahmed admits that he’s never seen the such incident in cricket till now.

Five runs were needed off the last ball of Mosaddek Hossain's last over. Zimbabwe batter Blessing Muzarabani missed the ball bowled by Mosaddek. Wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan stumped when the batter missed. Both teams and the umpire were seen leaving the field shaking hands before the third umpire checked.

By that time, there was a look of joy in the dugout of the Bangladesh team and a disappointed look in the dugout of the Zimbabwean team. But after checking it was known that it was a no-ball. The reason was that Sohan caught the ball before the stumps. Then the appearance changed in the dugout of Zimbabwe.

Here they got another chance. But they could not use it as they missed the free-hit ball again. The cricketers of Bangladesh were not very familiar with such a scenario. After the match, Taskin said that everyone was nervous.

“We were nervous in the middle after that last ball (no-ball). I've seen something like that for the first time,” he said.

Taskin was adjudged man of the match for the second time in the tournament. He took three wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Among the pacers, Mustafizur Rahman bowled well also and took two wickets. Taskin said that after a long time they got such a pace unit. He also said that bowling coach Allan Donald is also helping them.

“We got a good bunch of fast bowling group, we support each other and working hard to improve ourselves. We get great support from our bowling coach (Allan Donald) and all the other support staff. We got a good group and hopefully improve more,” he added.

Bangladesh play mostly in Mirpur where the wicket is slow. Mirpur wicket is not ideal for pacers. But the wickets in Australia are heaven for the pacers. Taskin himself is the proof. He is the highest wicket-taker in the Super 12 so far.

“I’m just focusing on improving and giving my best. Back home we play on slow wickets, and here we get early movement and help off the track as well,” he concluded.
