After a big defeat in the first Test, Pakistan made a great comeback in the Melbourne Test. They raised the possibility of victory. Batting on a target of 317 runs, Pakistan at one stage scored 219 runs for five wickets.
Then a bouncer by Australia captain Pat Cummins changed the course of the match. Wicketkeeper Batter Rizwan departed with a catch behind the wicket. However, the out sparked a heated debate. In the end, Pakistan lost the match by losing the last five wickets for just 18 runs.
In his post-match reaction, Pakistan's director of cricket and coach of the tour Mohammad Hafeez said his team played better than Australia in this match. Hafeez's comments also came up during the press conference of Aussie captain Pat Cummins. Cummins calmly answered all the questions. The fast bowler and team captain, who took 10 wickets in the match, said, "Ahh... cool. They played well. It doesn't really matter, does it? It's the team who wins at the end."
Australia has won the first two matches of the three-match series. The two teams will meet in Sydney for the third and final Test on January 3. Australia's star opener David Warner will say goodbye to red-ball cricket with this Test.
