A 14-man Ireland women's team has been named for the much-anticipated one-day international series against world champions Australia - a series set to take place from 23-28 July 2023 at Clontarf Cricket Club.
Ireland have named their 14-man squad for the upcoming ODI home series against Australia, which begins on July 23.
The Ireland women are poised to take on reigning world champions Australia in a highly anticipated ODI series in the backyard of their former world champions. The series starts on July 23rd and ends on July 28th in Dublin. With that in mind, Ireland Cricket have announced a 14-man women's squad with some notable newcomers.
One of those newcomers is Jane Maguire, who is returning to the team after recovering from injury. What makes this selection even more special is that Jane's younger sister Aimee has also been called up to the same roster, marking the first time the siblings have played together at this level.
Speaking of the upcoming assignment, Ireland's Amy Hunter said: "It's been an extremely exciting summer in international cricket - we've just returned from a tour to the Caribbean and now have a series at home against Australia and then away against the Netherlands."
"This series against the Aussies is our only home game this summer that I'm looking forward to. It's going to be a big challenge, so it would be great to have a really good audience. There at Bready last year.” “It was a great crowd and it really made a difference as they stood behind the team and supported us. It just creates a great atmosphere in which to play cricket.”
Hunter recalled beating Australia in a T20 World Cup warm-up match earlier in the year and expressed confidence that the team will be able to compete with top sides if their plans coincide. She urged fans to come in large numbers to support the team as their presence creates an incredible atmosphere for cricket. As anticipation builds for this thrilling series, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Ireland Women vs Australia Women clash.
