I’m used to it now: Yuzvendra Chahal opens up on his exclusion from World Cup squad
Every player dreams of playing in the World Cup. Especially if it is on the soil of one's own country, then a different feeling works. But the feeling of being left out is also different. Chahal did not get a place in the World Cup squad after being with the team for the whole year.

India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said he is "used to" being left off teams after not making the Indian team for the 2023 World Cup. The legspinner took part in the 2019 World Cup, but he has missed the last two T20 World Cups.
Every player dreams of playing in the World Cup. Especially if it is on the soil of one's own country, then a different feeling works. But the feeling of being left out is also different. Chahal did not get a place in the World Cup squad after being with the team for the whole year.
Although he expressed his disappointment at being left out of the World Cup squad, he did so with a smile. In order to "move on" from the rejection and concentrate on red-ball cricket, he flew to England to play a few County games for Kent. In an interview with Wisden India, Chahal said that he is used to being dropped.
“I understand that only fifteen players can be a part, because it’s a World Cup, where you can’t take 17 or 18. I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I’m used to it now… it’s been three World Cups (laughs)," Chahal said.
“That’s why I came here (at Kent) to play because I want to play cricket somewhere, somehow. I’m getting a chance here with a red ball, and I seriously want to play red ball for India. So it was a good experience for me.
“I spoke to the coaches too, and they’re happy I’m playing somewhere, because you can practice as much in the nets, but match is match. I’m getting to play at a very good level here – first division, County – learning a lot here.”
Despite performing well in the 2021 IPL, Chahal was not included in the World Cup squad. He did not even get a place in the T20 World Cup team to be held in Australia next year. Although this leg spinner played the 2019 World Cup.
India have three spinners in their World Cup squad- Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Axar Patel was out due to injury. Ashwin got a chance in place of him.
