Taskin Ahmed has committed himself to the national team. Even in the spin-friendly conditions in the hot Sri Lankan sun, he was the one who did well with the ball in hand. He even opted out from franchise leagues like IPL for the national team. That Taskin wants a little 'rest' now.

Taskin made his Test debut long after his debut in limited-overs cricket. He was also dropped after his debut in 2017. However, he has returned with incredible hard work, anyone will now admit that Taskin is the number one pacer in the country. The pacer, who has surpassed bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman after the Mashrafe era, recently sought a break from Test cricket.

Of course, there are reasons to seek rest. And like other pace bowlers, he is also prone to injury. Several injuries have disrupted the game in recent times. The busyness of Test cricket has increased again. Every year there is some limited over global tournament. All in all, Taskin does not want to play the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Taskin's decision was met with mixed reactions. Some even say that this 28-year-old cricketer chooses to play because he thinks he is a big cricketer. However, Khaled Mahmud Sujon expressed his hundred percent support for the star pacer's decision. Sujon, who has worked with Taskin for a few weeks as coach of the great Dhaka, thinks it would be wise to rest Taskin.

Speaking to the media on February 4, Sujon said, “This is Taskin's matter. He will decide. He is also getting old. Not 25-26 years old now. You have to think how much you can. There are many Tests this year. I think it would be best to use him carefully. It's best not to play Taskin where it's not necessary or to test a new guy. If we get a fit Taskin, it will be easier for Bangladesh to win many matches.”

Sujon is satisfied with his performance even though Taskin is yet to find his old rhythm after returning from injury. He added, “Taskin is brilliant. He’s slowly improving. He worked well enough, I also worked with him. He’s still not in 100% rhythm in bowling. He has been bowling well in every match but still has room to work. He knows it too and is working very hard. I will not say he is not fit. But not as bad as he is doing. I know Taskin will make a great comeback.”
