Bangladesh is currently in the USA preparing for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup with a three-match T20I series against the hosts. They will wrap up their preparations for the global tournament with these three games, having already defeated Zimbabwe 4-1 in a five-match T20I series at home. Despite the series victory, their performances were criticized for not posting substantial totals as a batting unit. Bangladesh's batting coach, David Hemp, discussed their T20I batting and their future approach in an extensive interview with Cricbuzz.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto had a series to forget against Zimbabwe. In the 5 matches, he only managed to score 81 runs with an average of 16.2 and a strike rate of 103.84. Excluding the 36 runs knock in the final game, Shanto has no innings to be proud of in this 5 match series against Zimbabwe.
However, Hemp remains worry free in regards to Shanto's form. In an interview with Cricbuzz, Hemp said, "Personally, no, because the way he's training, I think he is training really well and he's striking the ball really well in practice. He's clear with what he's working on and he's been executing that in practice. So personally, no and obviously during games in terms of output of runs is under what he'd want and obviously we would have liked but the way he's gone about it in practice I'm not concerned because I think he will be able to turn it at some stage."
