Bangladesh gained a decisive advantage on Day Three of the Jamaica Test, thanks to Nahid Rana’s stunning five-wicket haul. His career-best performance helped dismiss the West Indies for 146, giving Bangladesh an 18-run first-innings lead. Building on that, the Tigers now lead by 211 runs in their second innings with five wickets in hand, heading into Day Four with hopes of a historic win.
In a post-match video shared by the BCB, Rana expressed his gratitude and shared insights on his bowling strategy: "First of all, I want to thank the Almighty, Alhamdulillah, for this achievement. I managed to take five wickets by sticking to a consistent line and length. On this pitch, it's crucial to restrict runs and force batters to take risks. The key is to avoid over-complicating things and focus on disciplined bowling."
Rana is optimistic about Bangladesh’s chances of winning: "We’re in a good position now. If we can extend our lead to over 250, batting on the fourth day will be challenging due to uneven bounce and pitch deterioration. We’re confident that we can extract something special from the pitch as the game progresses, Insha’Allah."
After dismissing West Indies early, Bangladesh’s batsmen capitalized on the lead. By the end of Day Three, they had reached 193/5 in their second innings, extending their advantage to 211 runs. Contributions from key players, combined with Rana’s exceptional spell, have placed Bangladesh firmly in control.
West Indies’ bowlers, including Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, took key wickets to keep the hosts’ hopes alive, but the mounting lead has put immense pressure on their side.
