Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle didn't hold back in his criticism following Pakistan’s unexpected Test series defeat against Bangladesh. The two-match series, held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, saw Pakistan stunned by Bangladesh 2-0. Bangladesh won the first test by 10 wickets and won the 2nd test match by 6 wickets, marking Pakistan's first series loss against the Asian side on home soil.
Bhogle described the defeat as "embarrassing," highlighting Pakistan's ongoing struggles in the longer format of the game.
In the second Test, Bangladesh chased down a modest target of 185 runs in the fourth inning, wrapping up the match in the second session of the final day, just 25 minutes before the tea break. Zakir Hasan set the tone for Bangladesh with a brisk 40 off 39 balls. Skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto followed up with a composed 38-run knock, providing stability in the middle order. The victory was sealed with an unbeaten 32-run partnership between veterans Shakib Al Hasan (22*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (21*), guiding Bangladesh to a historic win.
Harsha Bhogle was upset with Pakistan's performance in the test series and wrote on Twitter that he had already said what he thought the team's skills and weaknesses were.
“I remember saying some time ago that the shorter the game, the more dangerous Pakistan would be, and, almost as consequence, that the longer the game, the more vulnerable they would be,” Bhogle remarked. “But I didn't expect it to be this stark. Well as Bangladesh played, this is embarrassing for Pakistan.”
This defeat against Bangladesh marks Pakistan's fifth consecutive Test loss in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. Prior to this series, Pakistan was defeated in three straight Tests against Australia. Currently, Pakistan sits eighth on the World Test Championship points table, with a dismal percentage of 19.05.
