An eventful day for England in Christchurch comes to an end. Harry Brook's sublime 132* and a brilliant 77 from wicketkeeper batter Ollie Pope helped the visitors get to a superb position by the end of day two.
Harry Brook and Ollie Pope put on a show at the Hagley Oval, stitching up for a fantastic 150-run stand to help England ascended to the top.
New Zealand started the day reducing England to 71/4. But they'd be kicking themselves as they dropped five catches, which made the day dreadful for the hosts.
Matt Henry and Nathan Smith used the morning time and utilised the new ball swing fully, removing Zak Crawley a 12-ball duck, and then debutant Smith had Joe Root for a four-ball duck and soon England were reeling at 71-4.
And then Ollie Pope and Harry Brook strung together, finding themselves in a tough position but the duo held on there and stitched a fine partnership of 150 runs, which helped the visitors get the upper hand in the Test.
Tim Southee removed Ollie Pope after scoring 77 but Harry Brook was there and he notched up his hundred. He found his skipper with him and with Stokes, the partnership was worth of unbeaten 97* runs.
England are now flying on 319-5 and they've half of their sides left, most especially a settled Ben Stokes and a fluent Harry Brook there. England will be eyeing to get over 450 and kick New Zealand out of the match.
