Brothers Union lost to Gulshan Cricket Club by just 2 wickets in a very exciting Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (March 19).  Gulshan were in a lot of trouble at 100/5 as they tried to reach a huge 291-run goal, but Naeem Islam, Elias Sunny, Farhad Reza, and Mahedi Hasan led a brave comeback that led to an amazing win.

Gulshan Cricket Club won the toss and chose to play first. They got off to a good start when Nihaduzzaman got rid of Mahfijul Islam Robin for 12 runs.  Brothers Union quickly got back on track, though, thanks to a 126-run stand between Bishal Chowdhury and Mizanur Rahman at the second wicket.

Even though Bishal hit nine fours and four sixes in a blistering 83 off 75 balls, he wasn't able to reach 100 because Nihad got his wicket.  Mizanur also got to fifty, but he was out soon after for fifty off 56 balls.

With Aich Mollah (65), Alok Kapali (31), and Sohag Gazi (17 off 8 balls), the middle-order helped Brothers Union score a respectable 290/9 in 50 overs.

In reply, Gulshan Cricket Club got off to a great start. In just 31 balls, Zawad Abrar and Azizul Hakim Tamim scored 42 runs.  But Sohag Gazi's great spell changed the game. He got rid of both starters and then Iftekhar Hossain Ifti as well.

When Gulshan got 100/5, they were in a lot of danger.  But a 99-run sixth-wicket stand between Naeem Islam (50 off 60) and Elias Sunny (53 off 62) saved the game.

The game became very exciting in the last over with Farhad Reza (47 off 36) and Mehedi Hasan (32 off 18) were at the wicket.  Mahedi hit a string of fours to seal the win for Gulshan, giving them an amazing two-wicket win.
