England substitute captain Moeen Ali thanked Pakistan for all their warmth and hospitality after winning the seven-game T20I series in which the Three Lions led 4-3. However, speaking to the media after the decision, Ali made some comparisons between the food on offer in Karachi and Lahore.
After winning the series 4-3, he was asked by the media for his impressions of the Pakistan tour and the team's performance in preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Pakistan lost the seven-game streak after a lackluster performance on Sunday and a 67-round loss to England in the last T20I.
"It was a good run for us as the England players performed well throughout the run," he said. "It took effort to come back after losing two games in a row, although I'm glad to see the batters and bowlers rose to the challenge and won the series," he added.
Security was obviously excellent: Moeen Ali
“The security was obviously excellent. Much more than we expected and we were looked after really well. As for the food, I was a bit disappointed in Lahore. Karachi was really nice,” said Moeen.
But it's ok, it was obviously really nice. It's great, but this time I find it a bit disappointing," he added.
Moeen led England exceptionally well throughout the series and was not shy about making regular team changes to identify their strengths ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup Down Under. Meanwhile, team management decided to rest regular white-ball captain Jos Buttler for all seven games.
Going back to the seventh T20I, England made it easy for Pakistan to move to the top by a comfortable 67 runs in a one-sided contest. Despite constant performances from star pace Haris Rauf, two crucial drop catches by skipper Babar Azam didn't help the hosts' cause as Dawid Malan (78*) and Harry Brooks' unbeaten 46 propelled the Three Lions to a mammoth 209/3.
In response, the men in green were exposed again when Babar and Mohammad Rizwan were released early and despite Shan Masood's brave 56, none of the other middle order batsmen could resist as the hosts were limited to 142/8.
