India's premier fast bowler Mohammed Shami has recently slammed media reports suggesting he has been ruled out of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 due to injury. On Wednesday, the pacer took to social media to set the record straight, addressing rumors that claimed he was sidelined for 7-8 weeks. Shami made it clear that he is committed to regaining his fitness and urged fans not to fall for such "fake news."
Earlier reports, including one from the Times of India, indicated that Shami had suffered a knee injury, supposedly delaying his return to international cricket. However, Shami has categorically denied these claims, terming them "baseless" and reassuring his fans that he is working hard during rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Talking to social media, Shami expressed his frustration with the circulating rumors. In his tweet, the speedster clarified his position, saying:
"Why these types of baseless rumors? I'm working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor I have mentioned that I am out of the Border-Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement."
The tweet was accompanied by hashtags like #fakenews, #stoprumors, and #rehab.
Shami has been out of action since the ICC ODI World Cup final against Australia in November 2023. He was battling ankle issues that required surgery, but he is now focused on making a full recovery.
Currently rehabilitating at the NCA in Bengaluru, Shami remains optimistic about his return. Fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback to bolster India’s pace attack in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as well as the Test series against New Zealand
