Despite the fact that experienced all-rounder Sean Williams will not be participating in the tour, which also includes three T20 Internationals, Craig Ervine has returned to captain Zimbabwe in the three-match One-Day International series against Sri Lanka.

Tapiwa Mufudza, an offspinner who has not yet been capped, was selected for the One-Day International team after demonstrating his potential throughout the domestic season. During Mashonaland Eagles' victory in the Pro50 Championship 2023, Mufudza, who is 33 years old, took 18 wickets, which was the highest in the competition.
The all-rounder Wessly Madhevere was not included in the teams because he was suspended by Zimbabwe Cricket for violating the anti-doping regulations. This prevented him from being included in the squads.
