Bangladesh are currently sitting at second in the Super League points table with 50 points while Zimbabwe at bottom with 10 points. Bangladesh’s confidence is also very high after 2-1 win against Sri Lanka in their last series at home. On the other hand, Zimbabwe lost their last series by 2-1 against Pakistan at home.
Both the teams will miss some of their experienced players in the first match as well as in the series. Bangladesh star wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim made himself unavailable for the series due to family reasons. Mustafizur Rahman is also a doubt for the first ODI as he picked up ankle injury in the preparation match.
Zimbabwean experienced duo- Craig Ervine and Sean Williams are still of the team bio-bubble after they were ruled out for the only Test for contacting with their Covid positive family members.
Tamim Iqbal will lead the Bangladesh side despite the fear of his knee injury while Zimbabwe will depend on Brandon Taylor’s lead in absence of their some important senior players.
Shoriful Islam will fill up the void if Mustafizur doesn’t play alongside inform Taskin Ahmed. Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain- all three spin all-rounder could slot into the main XI too. On the other hand, Sikandar Raza and Ryal Burl will return into Zimbabwe side after recovering from injury.
