New Zealand Women's beat Pakistan Women's by 54 runs to book their tickets for the semifinals on Monday (October 14). Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson's sensational bowling spells have restricted Pakistan to a measly 56 runs, in their reply of Kiwis 111 runs.
Opting to bat first, Blackcaps openers had an excellent start. Both of them hung in there and added 41 runs on their opening stand. Georgia Plimmer was removed after her 17 off 14 balls. And then Suzie Bates too couldn't prolong things as she made a slowish 28 off 29 balls.
Blackcaps kept losing wickets but their batters had starts, which they couldn't long and make sustainable. Brooke Halliday scored 22 off 24 deliveries and helped New Zealand post 110 on the board.
In reply, Pakistan went for the target from the ball one as they shuffled their batting lineup and sent in Aliya Riyaz to open the innings, alongside Muneeba Ali. But after four overs, wickets were kept tumbling and Pakistan slipped from 19/1 to 28/5.
And then Nida Dar and Fatima Sana got together in search of a normal win. But brilliant bowling from Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson didn't allow Pakistan to chase this down and folded them up for a paltry 56 runs.
With this thumping victory, New Zealand have made it to the semifinals for the first time after 2016.
