The much-anticipated Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to kick off on December 30, with the final match scheduled for February 7, as decided during the BCB board meeting on October 30. In a move to make the BPL experience smoother for fans, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the introduction of a complete e-ticketing system, ending long-standing issues at physical ticket counters.

For years, fans faced significant challenges purchasing tickets for BPL matches, often dealing with long lines, ticket shortages, and security concerns. This season, however, fans will be able to purchase tickets from home, providing a hassle-free way to enjoy the action live from the stands. The BCB’s decision aims to enhance the fan experience and reduce security bottlenecks at stadiums.

Alongside e-ticketing, the BPL player draft has already taken place, bringing exciting new line-ups. Seven teams will compete in this season’s league, including both returning teams and new additions. Longstanding teams like Rangpur Riders, Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers, and defending champions Fortune Barishal are joined by newcomers Dhaka Capitals and Rajshahi Royals, as well as the returning Chittagong Kings, who rejoin after a hiatus.

In previous seasons, the BPL has faced various controversies and challenges, from ticketing and infrastructure issues to pitch quality and lack of DRS. BCB president Faruque Ahmed assured fans that high-quality pitches suitable for T20 play will be a priority this season, offering thrilling matches with balanced bat-and-ball play.

Last season, Fortune Barishal triumphed over Comilla Victorians, who will be missed in this edition of the tournament. With four titles to their name, Comilla remains the BPL’s most successful team, but fans are excited to see if Barishal can defend their title against new and seasoned teams alike.
