Mitchell MarshThe BGT series will get underway next month, with the Test opener slated to be held on November 22 at Perth. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh is prepared to bowl as many overs as captain Pat Cummins requires during the five-match Test series.
The all-rounder who returned to bowling during the ODI series against England in September, has been slowly building up his workload. He didn't bowl in a competitive game since injuring his hamstring during IPL 2024.
For the unversed, he did not bowl at all in the first round of the Sheffield Shield, but plans to get some overs in for Western Australia in the upcoming match to gear up for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.
"I won't bowl too much for WA, it's all part of the building process to get ready for that first Test. I love bowling, so I'm looking forward to bowling for Western Australia this week and build from there," Marsh told the Australian Press via ESPNCricinfo.
"I see the allrounder role as being really important, especially for when our bowlers need a bit of a break. I think if you look back at the last few seasons, our all-rounders have bowled maybe 10 to 13 overs a game, which is not really a lot. But those 10 to 13 overs can be really important. So, for me, it's about preparing to bowl as much as I can, as much as Patty needs me to," he added.
The 32-year-old played 42 Tests for the national cricket team, wherein he took 37 wickets including 2 four-wicket hauls. On the contrary, he scored 665 runs including 3 fifties.
