In a significant development ahead of the IPL 2025 season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a fixed match fee for all cricketers participating in the Indian Premier League. Jay Shah, the outgoing BCCI secretary, made the landmark announcement on Saturday, unveiling that every player will receive INR 7.5 lakh per match starting from IPL 2025. This move is aimed at rewarding the hard work and consistency of the players in the world's most popular T20 league.

In addition to their contract amount, players who play all the matches in a season will receive an extra INR 1.05 crore as a reward for their consistent performance throughout the tournament. The new payment structure will greatly benefit players, providing them with more financial incentives.

Jay Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, saying:

“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount.”

The BCCI has allocated INR 12.60 crore for each franchise to cover the match fees of its players, adding a new layer of excitement ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 season.

“Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!” he added.

While the retention rules for IPL 2025 are still under wraps, the BCCI is set to conduct a mega auction in November 2024. However, there is no confirmation yet on how many players each team will be allowed to retain before the auction.
