The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the contract renewals of the Indian women's team for the 2024/25 season, which will be from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) released the Indian women's central contracts for 2024/25 on Monday, February 24. A difference from previous year was observed when the women's team's central contracts weren't officially put out yet last year, with 16 players being given the central contracts this time.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and all-rounder Deepti Sharma were retained in Class A. Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, and Renuka Thakur were included in Class B. Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad failed to find a place in Class A.
New entrants to Grade C (10 lakh) are offspin all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, seam-bowling pair Arundhati Reddy and Titas Sadhu, all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, and wicketkeeper Uma Chetry.
All-rounders Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar, who last played during the T20 World Cup in October last year, held on to their spots in Grade C. Vastrakar is still recovering from a long-term back injury that also kept her out of the 2025 World Cup, while Rana last played for the national team in 2023. Yastika Bhatia also holds on despite not being in the best of form and fitness in the last one year.
Notable absences include batswomen Harleen Deol and Pratika Rawal, and leg-spinner Priya Mishra. Harleen returned from a long injury layoff and scored her maiden international century in January's domestic ODI against the West Indies, while Rawal made a strong start to her international career.
The list, recommended by the senior women's national team selection panel chaired by Neetu David and head coach Amol Muzumdar, is valid for a period of 12 months from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
Grade-wise Player List:
Grade A: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma
Grade B: Renuka Singh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma
Grade C: Yastika Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Arundathi Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Uma Chetry, Sneh Rana, Pooja Vastrakar.
India will then play Sri Lanka and South Africa in a tri-nation ODI series in Sri Lanka, which will start on April 27.
The 2022–25 ICC Women's Championship runners-up are also gearing up for the 2025 ICC Women's World Cup, which will be hosted later in the year.
