The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is determined to spread the excitement of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) across the country. With tributes to the martyrs of the July Revolution and several new initiatives, the BCB is striving to make this edition of the BPL more engaging than ever.
BCB president Faruque Ahmed emphasized that the league aims to connect with youth and instill a nationwide cricket fervor. The unveiling of a new mascot is among the highlights of these efforts.
“We want to extend the excitement of the BPL nationwide. Our goal is to engage the youth. To achieve this, we’ve undertaken initiatives that have never been implemented before. The league has started, and I hope it will conclude in a remarkable fashion,” Faruque stated.
This year, BCB has also worked on inviting prominent international figures to enhance the event's appeal. “The arrangements have been made through the Chief Advisor’s office. During the tournament, 1-2 distinguished guests from abroad are expected to visit,” Faruque added.
The BCB faced several obstacles in organizing this edition of the BPL. The change in government led to the departure of several board directors and key personnel involved in the league’s management. To tackle the crisis, Faruque Ahmed personally stepped in to oversee the league's preparations.
“There were numerous challenges—teams leaving, bringing in new franchises, and securing sponsorships during such difficult times,” he explained.
Despite the hurdles, the BCB president remains optimistic about the league’s successful execution and its potential to attract significant public engagement.
