England has begun their India tour quite vigorously after losing to Bangladesh in the previous series. Scoring a 537 runs in the first innings left India in an anarchy in the first Test. [Read in Bangla: ভারতের বিপক্ষে বাংলাদেশ ১০০ রানও করতে পারতো না]
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, while giving his opinion to ESPN Cricinfo about the pitch condition at the Saurasthra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot where the Test match is taking place, deliberately mimicked the wickets in Bangladesh in which Bangladesh marked their historic Test win.
“Such kind of pitches are expected in the first day of a Test match. In Bangladesh, the play was going on in a minefield from the very first day; the ball was turning squarely. Bangladesh would not have been able to score even 100 runs if India played there” – said Sourav Ganguly when the moderator of ESPN asked him whether India needed a spinning pitch to perform better against England.
Sourav Ganguly ended saying, “Test matches are not meant to be ended within three days; it have to be continued until five days.”
