Bangladesh’s rising cricket star, pacer Shoriful Islam, has just embarked on a new chapter in his personal life as he becomes a father.
Shoriful, who was a key member of Bangladesh's U19 World Cup-winning squad in 2020, shared the joyous news on his official Facebook page. He revealed that his wife, Farhin Sheikh Chandni, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on a Tuesday morning at 8:35 AM, expressing gratitude with a heartfelt post: "Alhamdulillah. I thank Allah for blessing me with a son this morning. Both mother and child are doing well. Please keep us in your prayers."
Shoriful has quickly risen to prominence in Bangladesh’s national cricket team, securing his place across all three formats since his U19 World Cup success, where Bangladesh defeated India in the final to claim their first-ever ICC trophy. He has since shown impressive performances in domestic leagues and the national team.
In 2022, Shoriful married Farhin, marking the beginning of his "second innings" off the field. Now, just a year after their wedding anniversary, the couple welcomed their first child.
Shoriful was recently part of Bangladesh’s squad during the T20I series against India, although he missed out on the Test series due to injury. After playing in the first T20I match, he didn’t feature in the remaining two matches, and the team was ultimately whitewashed by India 3-0.
