The cricket world is shocked that former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal had a heart attack while playing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) on Monday. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors found a clog in his heart and fixed it by angioplasty and putting in a stent.
At the moment, Tamim is in the critical care unit (CCU) at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar. His situation is steady, and he is now awake and talking to family members. The medical team is still keeping a close eye on him, though.
The cricket world was shocked when Tamim got sick out of the blue. Players, past cricketers, and franchise teams from all over the world have sent their thoughts and support.
Bangla Tigers, a well-known franchise cricket team, posted on social media, "Tamim Iqbal, you’ve always been a warrior on the field – now fight this battle too! Our duas are with you for a speedy recovery."
The 19th board meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been pushed back so that the board can focus on Tamim's health. Faruque Ahmed, the president of the BCB, has already been to the hospital. Tamim's wife Ayesha Siddiqa and brother Nafees Iqbal are with him.
Nobel Prize winner and interim government chief adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has personally asked about Tamim's health.
