Pakistan captain Babar Azam met India captain Rohit Sharma ahead of the World Cup 2023 captain's meet in Ahmedabad. The two captains have reached Ahmedabad for the big event scheduled to take place later today.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, October 4, and received a ceremonial welcome ahead of the Captain's Day ahead of the 2023 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin with a repeat of the 2019 final between New Zealand and England. Babar and the captains of all nine teams participating in the tournament will be present at the captain's day.

After enjoying the rousing reception where he was warmly welcomed, Babar went and met Indian captain Rohit Sharma who had already reached Ahmedabad. The duo also exchanged a warm hug before having a casual conversation.

The participating captains include Rohit Sharma of India, Pat Cummins of Australia, Jos Buttler of England, Kane Williamson of New Zealand, Babar Azam of Pakistan, Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka, Temba Bavuma of South Africa, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh and Hashmatullah Shahidi of Afghanistan and Scott Edwards from the Netherlands.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a short video of Babar Azam's journey from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad. Azam was in Hyderabad for the last few days for the two warm-up games against New Zealand and Australia. He will return to Hyderabad after the captains' meeting when Pakistan takes on Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma traveled from Trivandrum to Ahmedabad where he was with the team for the warm-up match against Netherlands. Sharma might have greeted Azam in the final moments of the video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Instagram.

The World Cup begins on October 5 with the opening match between New Zealand and defending champions England in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan will play its first match against Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
